Patrick Swayze - Swayze In Good Health At Lakers Game

PATRICK SWAYZE defied reports he's close to death by appearing happy and healthy at a Los Angeles Lakers play-off game on Friday night (23May08).

The Ghost star, who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, joined celebrity basketball fans including Jack Nicholson, Tobey Maguire, David and Victoria Beckham, Eva Longoria Parker and Sylvester Stallone at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Cheering on the Lakers against the San Antonio Spurs, smiling Swayze was spotted in the crowd with his wife Lisa Niemi.

And his presence seemed to give the Lakers the life they needed - the team hammered the Spurs 101-71 to go up 2-0 in the Western Conference basketball final series.

Warren Buffett embraces Erica of "All My Children"

OMAHA, Nebraska (Reuters) - It's part of Warren Buffett's job not just to answer questions from many of the 31,000 people at the annual meeting of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. He also has to entertain.

Especially if the entertainment involves Susan Lucci, one of America's best-known soap opera stars.

Part of the roughly one-hour movie preceding this year's meeting, produced by Buffett's daughter Susie, showed a clip of Buffett's recent cameo on the soap opera "All My Children." Buffett, who plays himself, visits Erica Kane, portrayed by Lucci, who is in prison on an insider trading charge.

The movie included faux news reports about his leaving Berkshire, which the 77-year-old has run since 1965, to swap jobs with Lucci.

So at the start of the meeting, instead of Buffett emerging with Berkshire Vice Chairman Charlie Munger, Lucci came out.

And she promised change.

"The first thing we need to change is our dividend policy," she said. "I have never heard of anything so cheap and so unfair to our shareholders." Berkshire hasn't paid a cash dividend since 1967.

She then urged Berkshire to give weekly guidance on earnings, and to pay directors more than $900 a year. That let directors -- including Microsoft Corp Chairman Bill Gates, worth $58 billion -- to jump up and roar approval.

Amy Winehouse - Record Labels Threat To Winehouse

Troubled singer AMY WINEHOUSE has reportedly been ordered by her record label to kick her drug habit - or they won't release any more of her music.

The Back To Black hitmaker checked into a London rehab clinic earlier this year (08) at the request of Universal Music boss Lucian Grange after a British newspaper published footage of her allegedly taking hard drugs - but the star left after just two weeks.

However, despite Winehouse claiming she is finally overcoming her problems, her recent erratic behaviour has led to rumours she has failed to kick her addictions.

And British newspaper The Sun is now reporting that the 24-year-old has been issued an ultimatum by her record label after she allegedly cancelled a recording session in the Bahamas - with label chiefs urging her to stay out of trouble or plans to release her highly anticipated third album will be shelved indefinitely.

A source tells the publication, "Amy has been reminded of her responsibilities. Unless she is clean she will not be allowed to release another album.

"They would never release her from her deal, they would just not put an album out. She has been warned about her behaviour and needs to keep the standards up."

One of the great unsung heroes of jazz singing, Andy Bey is a commanding interpreter of lyrics wHO has a broad vocal image and a large, rich, full voice. Bey enjoys a belittled following that swears by him; still, he isn't near as well known as he should be. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, non far from New York, Bey was open to wind as a baby and started vocalizing in front of local audiences as early as ashcan School. At some gigs, an eight-year-old Bey was accompanied by tenor adolphe Sax great Hank Mobley. Bey was 13 when, in 1952, he recorded his first base solo record album, Mama's Little Boy's Got the Blues; and he was 17 when he formed Andy & the Bey Sisters with his siblings Salome and Geraldine in 1956. The grouping did a 16-month tour of Europe and recorded trey albums (unitary for RCA Victor in 1961, 2 for Prestige in 1964 and 1965) before breakage up in 1967. In the 1960s and seventies, Bey's vocals were featured by Max Roach, Duke Pearson, and Gary Bartz (for whom he delivered very socio-political lyrics, including some searing condemnations of U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War). The 1970s as well launch Bey recording Have and Judgment for Atlantic and start a long association with piano player Horace Silver, wHO featured him conspicuously on many of the religious-themed albums he put out have his own Silveto label in the seventies and 1980s. The LPs contained what Silver termed "metaphysical self-help music" and preached a sort of religious self-help doctrine that wasn't unlike Reverend Ike's message -- regrettably for Silver and Bey, this approaching meant limited distribution and minuscule commercial appeal. Bey continued to run with Silver into the 1990s, when he was featured on Silver's 1993 Columbia appointment It's Got to Be Funky (which pronounced a return to concentrated bop's mainstream and did much better commercially than his "self-help medicine"). Labels Bey recorded for as a drawing card in the 1980s and 1990s included Jazzette, Zagreb, and Evidence, which, in 1996, released the superb Ballads, Blues and Bey. The success of Blues, Ballads and Bey entrap a place for the piano player to stretch out a minuscule and explore his more intimate side. Bey followed with Shades of Bey in 1998 and Tuesdays in Chinatown in 2001, choosing to explore outside the earth of jazz with covers of Nick Drake and Milton Nascimento and others. American Song followed in early 2004.

Duane "dog" Chapman - Employee Sues Psychotic Chapman

TV star DUANE 'DOG' CHAPMAN is facing legal action from a producer on his reality show DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER - who has accused the star of "psychotic behaviour".

Actor Boris Krutonog - Chapman's former agent - worked as an executive producer on the TV series but is now suing the show's network A+E.

He is accusing programme bosses of failing to pay his salary, cutting him out of agreed DVD royalties and creating an "intolerable and hostile workplace".

Krutonog, who is best known for his role in Star Trek: Voyager, has slammed Chapman and his wife Beth - accusing the TV network of failing to restrain the couple during "episodes of psychotic behaviour". Krutonog was eventually removed from his position for refusing to work on the show.

Legal papers filed at New York Supreme Court reveal Krutonog is seeking over $800,000 (GBP400,000) in damages as well as attorney fees.

Chapman has now responded to the allegations through his attorney Marty Singer, who tells TMZ.com, "It is unfortunate that Boris Krutonog, who was Dog Chapman's and Beth Chapman's former agent and manager, has made gratuitous, ridiculous and outrageous statements about his former clients. Mr. Krutonog was fired for cause more than two years ago after he refused to work on the series."
